Duplex fiber optic cables used to have two fibers joined together by a thin web or “zipcord” construction. One strand is transmitted from point A to point B and the other from B to A. Both ends had a transmitter and a receiver. Duplex fiber is also available in single mode duplex fiber optic cable and multimode duplex fiber optic cable. This zipcord fiber optic patch cable is often used as duplex fiber patch cord or pigtail. It connects indoor instruments and communications equipment.
